Step inside the Poppies & Posies boutique in New York City and you enter a floral haven. Buckets of flowers, branches, fruits and vegetables sit on top of rustic farm tables. Wooden crates filled with antique mason jars and bottles line the walls. And birch tree stumps, vintage fabrics and pretty ribbon make an eclectic display on the wall shelves.
Owners Sierra Yaun and Juliet Totten met in late 2007 through a mutual friend and quickly decided to merge their talents. Sierra, who worked in event design, and Juliet, who had a background in visual arts, found their aesthetics and love for flowers a perfect combination. “It’s been so much fun learning together,” says Juliet, who went back to school for floral and event design. “We’re both so excited to go to the flower market when a new season rolls around. Every season has its own gems and late spring is a perfect time for peonies!”
