Food and lifestyle photographer Marte Marie Forsberg creates images that make you want to crawl inside and linger for hours. From pictures of homemade bread to foggy landscapes, her photographs convey the sweetness of simple joys. Her work reminds me that the moments I end up treasuring the most have nothing to do with the kind of explosive happiness we often chase. They’re the easy moments, like taking a slow bike ride through the woods and feeling the summer breeze in my hair.
Marie grew up in Norway, where from an early age her mom taught her how to cook and her dad showed her how to use a film camera. After a degree in fashion design in Milan, she was studying art history in San Francisco when she was re-introduced to photography. Combining her childhood passions, she now works in England as a commercial lifestyle, travel and food photographer. A firm believer in the power of a home cooked meal using local produce, you’ll rarely catch her at home without something delicious brewing on the stove or baking in the oven.
This month’s Curated, Sweden With Love’s monthly art show, features a selection of Marie’s photographs of the English countryside. They’re a perfect representation of her style, conjuring up images of life lived simply yet fully. Because that’s what Marie’s photographs so masterfully do: they remind us of that slow and peaceful joy that has staying power. So take a deep breath and scroll down. I bet you’ll smell the mist in the air and the scents of early fall.
