It’s A Wrap!
The July issue has come to an end and what an amazing month it’s been. The July Cover Story, an exclusive interview with Unforgettable star Poppy Montgomery, was picked up by several outlets including People.com, who turned it into their top story on their website. You can bet I was jumping with joy!
We also visited Swedish illustrator and artist Linn Schrab, who was this month’s Creative Crush. Thanks to Cookie + Kate’s delicious vegan Chai Coconut Ice Cream, I finally ended my year-long ice cream hiatus. And it was worth it! I went the easy-breezy way for this month’s Ask Five with the question “What’s Your Favorite Summer Ritual?” If you missed the delicious answers from Gossip Girl actress Kelly Rutherford, DIY Network’s Kitchen Crashers star Alison Victoria, Sweden’s Biggest Loser fitness expert Tanja Djelevic, SFGirlByBay’s editor and founder Victoria Smith and florist and event designer Mindy Rice, click here! You might pick up a new favorite summer activity. I also shared my latest Kids In The House video, where I tell you what you really need for your baby’s nursery. I’m a minimalist, so you might be surprised by my opinion on the conventional “must-haves” I don’t think you need.
July’s At Home feature was also a little different than usual, featuring the lovely Rochelle Gores Fredston’s 4,000-square-foot luxurious Beverly Hills mansion. The custom zebra-patterned lounge chairs alone are worth a peek!
I also published a few other articles that were particularly close to my heart. First up was My Daily Joy –the monthly section where an inspiring person shares their own photographs and reveals the little things in their daily life that make their hearts light up – featuring author and wellness expert Kathy Freston. Kathy is such a mindful, smart woman and her life philosophy is right up my alley. Talking to her gave me such an energy boost, and I hope you felt the same way. Second, this month’s Design Insider featured my own personal interior design favorite, Kathryn M. Ireland. If I had to choose one designer who reflects my own personal aesthetics, Kathryn’s the one. And last, July’s Curated, Sweden With Love‘s monthly art show, was dedicated to award-winning film photographer Elizabeth Messina. Elizabeth is not only one of my absolute favorite people in the world — I’m honored to be able to call her a close friend — but an artist whose photographs speak directly to my heart. Don’t miss the opportunity to be transported to Venice, Italy, through her magical camera lens.
As I’m writing this, I’m sitting in Santa Monica after spending day at the beach with a friend and my three kids. My 22-month old daughter is pulling at my arm asking me to chase her, and my two boys (age 6 and almost 4) are hungrier than a pack of wolves. Even though parenthood can be demanding at times, I’m truly honored that I get to spend my life with them. I’m also honored that you’re reading Sweden With Love. Being a journalist and an editor is what feeds my soul. I love finding out what makes people tick and exploring what makes this world beautiful and interesting. I thank you for allowing me to pursue what brings me such joy. I hope that in some small way — through my stories and the people I interview — I can contribute something positive and life-affirming to your life.
Until next month issue, launching on Monday.
